IBM Research: What’s new in Data & AI Privacy Technologies

Virtual Event | 30 September 2021 | 16:00 – 18:00 CET (10:00 – 12:00 EDT )

101 billion – that’s the number of data records compromised in 2020 according to a report released by Canalys. This made 2020 a record-breaking year for data breaches – the cost per breach also hitting a record high with an average of $4.24 million per incident (IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2021).

And the pressure continues to rise. The recent drastic increase in data breaches following the acceleration of digital transformation due to the pandemic further emphasizes the crucial need for end-to-end data privacy in hybrid cloud environments and across AI model lifecycles.

As a long-term leader in AI, security and privacy, IBM has built a strong portfolio of research innovations in privacy-preserving Data & AI technologies. This includes a set of new, pre-commercial technologies from IBM Research which are available through early access programs and first-of-a-kind joint research collaborations.

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 16:00 – 18:00 CET (10:00 – 12:00 EDT), we invite you to an IBM Research virtual event which showcases these new data privacy technologies, including:

  • Data privacy: In this session, we explore the tools we are building to remove and/or transform sensitive data and optimize them for the model specific analysis – resulting in an anonymized model with higher accuracy. We speak about the different dimensions of governance that need to be taken into account.
  • Fully Homomorphic Encryption: Encrypted computation allows you to keep your computations secret even in zero trust environments. To maximize utility, IBM Research has created an AI SDK for Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) that enables 1) Data Scientist / ML Engineers to use FHE without having to be cryptographic engineers and 2) cryptographic flexibility around specific FHE wrappers and libraries.

At the event, you will also hear perspectives from partners, who have been piloting privacy-enhancing technologies and you have the opportunity to discuss your questions directly with our industry-leading research team.

Please find the program on our website.
